Come Back to Earth: A Soulful Reminder on Earth Day

By: Jess King

This weekend I took my babies to Central Park, and something clicked.

They were barefoot, belly-laughing, rolling through the grass like little wild things. So grounded. So free.

And I thought—damn, this is it. This is what wholeness looks like. This is what we’ve forgotten.

Lately, I’ve noticed how much better I feel when I’m in nature. I breathe differently when I’m with the trees. My nervous system unknots itself. My thoughts slow down. I remember who I am.

So let me remind you—on this Earth Day—that the earth is your ally. Your home. Your healer.
She’s alive. And you’re part of her.

Everything you need to heal lives in the soil, in the ocean, in the sun. The more removed we are from the earth—through our food, our environment, our rhythms—the more disconnected, inflamed, sluggish, toxic, and spiritually depleted we become.

Let’s not forget: we are earth in motion. We’re stardust with a heartbeat. We’re not separate from this planet—we are this planet.

So ask yourself…

Is what makes life easier actually making you sicker?

All these synthetics. These chemicals. The processed foods that look pretty on a shelf but wreak havoc in your gut. We’ve leaned so far into “convenience” that we’ve devalued the actual power of the Earth—her healing, her calming, her wisdom.

And baby, she is powerful.
Way more powerful than us.

So here’s my call to you on this Earth Day:
Come back to the source.

Eat what grows.
Move your body outside.
Take off your damn shoes.
Walk in the grass (as long as it’s not sprayed with chemicals, because hello—not earthy).
Hug a tree and don’t let anyone make you feel weird about it.

There’s literal science behind it: grounding—connecting bare skin to the earth—releases inflammation, balances your energy, and recharges your body with electrons from the Earth’s surface. It’s not hippie woo-woo. It’s physics. And it works.

This isn’t just a self-care practice. It’s a spiritual reconnection.
You want to feel more alive? You gotta get back in rhythm with the one who gives you life.

Highlighting: Water Rising 🌊

In honor of Earth Day, I’m spotlighting Water Rising—an incredible organization I deeply align with.

Their Water Woman initiative uplifts women around the world by teaching them to build clean water systems for their communities. It’s sustainability through empowerment. It’s climate justice and gender equity. It’s the ripple effect we talk about in movement—only this one starts with water and transforms lives.

Supporting the earth means supporting the women who rise up to protect it.
This is how we heal—together.

Your Earth Day Soulwork 🌀

Before you scroll away, take a breath.

Ask yourself:

  • What’s one way I can ground myself today?
  • What’s one part of nature I’ve taken for granted?
  • Where have I outsourced ease that’s actually robbing me of vitality?

And then—take up space. With your bare feet. With your wild breath. With your sacred presence.
